Paul Bardos is the managing director of r3 Environmental Technology Ltd (www.r3environmental.com). r3 offers a range of research, management and consultancy services in contaminated land and waste management, renewable energy, brownfields rehabilitation and sustainability assessment. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Brighton working in the same research areas. He is Visiting Professor in Environmental Engineering at the University of Nottingham where he helped initiate and develop their MSc in Contaminated Land Management, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Reading.
Nanoremediation Technologies – Findings Of The EU FP7 NanoRem Project
In situ remediation technologies are now in widespread use for managing risks from a range of soil and water contamination problems. The small particle size and high reactivity of nanoparticles may offer particular remediation benefits compared with existing in situ techniques. This seminar will present some of the key findings of the NanoRem project.
NanoRem (Taking Nanotechnological Remediation Processes from Lab Scale to End User Applications for the Restoration of a Clean Environment) focuses on facilitating practical, safe, economic and exploitable nanotechnology for in situ remediation. This has been undertaken in parallel with developing a comprehensive understanding of the environmental risk-benefit for the use of nanoparticles (NPs), market demand, overall sustainability, and stakeholder perceptions.
