Aubrey Calderwood BSc MRICS, is a founder director of fiscal incentives consultancy. Gateley Capitus. With over 30 years’ experience advising companies on the tax reliefs available for investing in the purchase, construction and refurbishment of property assets, Aubrey specialises in the operation of such reliefs and how they can be identified and maximised. He set up and ran the capital allowances practice of the Arthur Andersen’s Midlands office in the early 1990’s before co-founding Gateley Capitus in 1997 with Kevin Meyer. In 2016, based on their market-leading knowledge and reputation, Capitus were acquired by full service national law firm, Gateley plc, becoming Gateley Capitus. Their areas of expertise now include tax law, construction law, residential development legal expertise, banking and finance. Aubrey has advised the Parliamentary Affairs committee on the establishment of Enterprise Zones and has written many articles on the various fiscal tax incentives
available from Government including Land Remediation Relief.
Using Tax Incentives to Encourage the Redevelopment of Contaminated Land
With developers now mindful of the Government’s “Brownfield First” policy when identifying land suitable for development, more consideration must be given to building on contaminated sites that would previously have been uneconomic to develop. This seminar covers details of the of the current fiscal incentives available to help companies with the clean-up costs of such sites and examines the effectiveness of these incentives as a stimulus for development.
